TENTS TO HELP EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS
Australia is to provide 800 tents to help in the relief
arrangements for the victims of the Italian Earthquake.
The Commonwealth Government haa agreed to share with the
Tasmanian Government the $ 120,000 cost of purchasing the
tents in line with the relief arrangements announced
on 25 November, 1980.
Arrangements are being made to air-freight the tents to
Rome as soon as possible. They will be provided to the Italian
Government for use in relief operations.
The provision of the tents will form part of the substantial
aid which the Commonwealth will make available for the earthquake
victims. The Government has promised $ 500,000 to the Australian
Appeal and will also match dollar for dollar funds
contributed by State Governments. 000---
