NORTHERN TERRITORY ADMINISTRATOR
TO CONTINUE FOR A FURTHER PERIOD
The Prime Minister, Mr Malcolm Fraser, and the Chief Minister
of the Northern Territory, Mr Paul Everingham, announced
today that Mr J. A. England, C. St. J., would
continue as Administrator of the Northern Territory until
31 December; 1980.
Under previous arrangements, Mr England's term of office was
to end on 31 May, 1980, but he has now agreed to remain for
the extra . period.
Mr England, who had been appointed on 1 June 1976, has made
an important contribution to the government of the Territory
in a historic transitional period during which the Territory
attained self-government.
Mr Fraser and Mr Everingham said that both the Commonwealth
and Northern Territory Governments were pleased that he had
agreed to continue as Administrator for the extra period.
