APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY COMMONWEALTH OMBUDSMAN
Mr. Kevin Michael Crotty, of Canberra, has been appointed
Deputy Commonwealth ombudsman for a five year -term. The
Office of Deputy Ombudsman is a full time sta-tutory
position. Mr. Crotty holds a first class honours degree in Law from
the Australian National Universit' and has been admitted to
practice as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court
of the Australian Capital Territory.
He is a First Assistant Secretary in the Attorney-General's
Department, Canberra, and is 49 years old. He previously
held positions in the Department of Social Security and the
Public Service Board.
The appointment of Mr. Crotty further strengthens the
resources available to the recently established office
of the Commonwealth ombudsman.
