AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT TO BE REPRESENTED AT THE FUNERAL OF
ARCHBISHOP MAKARIOS
The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Malcolm Fraser, today announced
that the Hon. M. J. R. MacKellar, Minister for Immigration and
Ethnic Affairs, would represent the Australian Government at the
funeral of the late President of Cyprus, His Beatitude,
Archbishop Makarios III.
The Prime Minister said that the funeral would be held in
Nicosia on Monday 8 August. The attendance of Mr. MacKellar
at the funeral would be a demonstration of the feeling of
sympathy with the people of Cyprus by the Australian Government
and people at the loss of their President.
