OPENING OF PARLIAMENT BY THE QUEEN
At the request of the Prime Minister, His Excellency the
Governor-General, Sir John Kerr, has today signed a Proclamation
proroguing the Parliament until Tuesday, 8 March 1977, and
summoning the Parliament to assemble at 3.00 p. m. on that day.
The Queen will attend the Senate Chambers on Tuesday, 8 March 1977
and open Parliament.
Note:: This will be the third occasion on which The Queen
has opened the Australian Parliament, the previous occasions
being on 15 February 1954 and 28 February 1974.
