U. R. D. AGREEMENT WITH QUEENSLAND
The Prime Minister, Mr. Whitlam, and the Queensland Premier,
Mr. Bjelke-Petersel, today signed three agreements relating
to the Australian Government's Urban and Regional Development
program. The three programs will provide Queensland with up to
$ 15,462,000 in the 1974-75 financial year.
. one agreement will make available $ 12,050,000 to
Queensland for sewerage services; the second provides $ 2,500,000
for area improvement; and the third $ 912,000 for the national
estate. The Prime Minister said," The conclusion of these
agreements is evidence of the co-operative endeavours of our
two Governments in promoting our mutual objectives of sound
urban development and enhancement of the environment in
Queensland. I hope that we can look forward to an extension
of this co-operation in other fields."
