VISIT BY MSTDA1ESE FOREIGN MINISTER
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic
Republic of the Sudan, Dr Iansour Khalid, arrived in Canberra
this morning for a brief visit to meet members of the Australian
Government, Members of Parliament and Government officials.
Announcing this today, the Prime Minister and Minister
for Foreign Affairs, Mr Whitlam, said that Dr Khalid, who had
been his country's Foreign Minister for two years, was a leading
figure in the Sudanese Government whose views on a number of
0issues would be of considerable interest to the Australian
Government. The Special Minister of State, Senator W1illesee, who
will become Australia's new Minister for Foreign Affairs
tomorrow, will meet with Dr Khalid tomorrow morning, and
tomorrow evening Senator Willesee will host a dinner for the
Sudanese Minister in Parliament House.
0Tomorrow afternoon, Dr Khalid will call on the
Minister for External Territories and Science, fIr Morrison.
Dr Khalid, who arrived in Sydney yesterday, will leave
0Australia on Wednesday afternoon.
