SENATOR WVVILLESEE TO LEAD AUSTRALIAN
DELEGATION TO DAC MEETITNG IN PARIS
The Prime Minister and Minister f or Foreign
Affairs, Mr Whitlam, said today that the Minister Assisting
tlie Foreign M" inister, Senator Willesee, would lead the
Australian delegation to the High Level Meeting of the
Development Assistance Committee ( DAC) of the OECD in Paris
on 18 and 19 October.
The DAC is concerned with encouraging the flow
of assistance to developing countries. The High Level
Meeting, the annual policy meeting of the Committee, will
review the Committee's work program and discuss the major
issues facing aid donors and recipients.
Mr Whitlam said that the impending changes in the
structure of Australian aid administration and the review
scheduled to be carried out this year by DAC on Australia's
aid performance made it particularly appropriate that
Senator Willesee should lead the delegation to this important
international aid meeting.
