PRESS STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER,
THE HON. E. G. WHITLAM, M. P.
The Prime Minister announced today that in.
keeping with the general policy on the title of Australian
Government bodies, the title of the nation's public service,
at present generarly referred to as the " Commonwealth
Public Service, is to be changed to " Australian Public
Service" Mr. Whitlam said, in making this announcement, that
amendments to the Public Service Act would be necessary to
formally change the title. He said that he expected that
these would be introduced in the Budget sittingsbut in the
meantime, rwherever possible, the term " Australian Public*
