AMBASSADOR TO AR. ENTINA, PERU
AND URUGUAY
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Whitlam, announced
today the appointment of Mr H. A. Dunn as Australian Ambassador to
Argentina, Pern and Uruguay with residence in Buenos Aires, to
succeed Mr H. W. Bullock whose appointment as High Commissioner to
Fiji, Western Samoa and Tonga was announced recently.
Mr Dunn, who was born in 1923, was educated at Brisbane
Boys' College and the Uiiversity of Queensland. He was a member of
the AIF from 1943 to 1945 and was Queensland's Rhodes Scholar in
1948. He attended Oxford University and lectured at Toronto
University. Mr Dunn joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in
1952 and has served in Tokyo, Seoul ( as Australian representative
on UNCURK), Washington and Saigon. In 1966 he attended the National
Defence College in New Delhi and from 1969 to 1972 he was
Australian Ambassador in Tainei.
Mr Dunn is married with one child. It is expected that
he will take up his ap) nointment towards the middle of 1973.
