ABORIGINAL GItITS
The Prime Minister, Mr. VWhitlai, has approved two
grants for voluntary organisations involved in aboriginal
affairs. A grant of $ 16,000 will be given to the Aboriginal
Publications Foundation for 1972-73o
This will enable the foundation to continue
operations, particularly including the publication of the
magazine " Identity", in the coming year.
The Craft Council of Australia will receive a
grant of $ 5,000 to prepare a comprehensive and accurate
exhibition of traditional and developing Aboriginal art.
This will be a major part of an exhibition of
Australian folk art to be displayed in the National Korean
M1useum at the time of the A. S. P. A. C. Conference early next
year and subsequently in other South-East Asian countries.
The Craft Council and the South Australian Museum
are preparing the exhibition at the request of the Department
of Foreign Affairs.
