QUEENSLAND CYCLONE
Statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. William McMahon
The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. William McMahon, M. P.,
today sent the following telegram to the Acting Premier of
Queensland, the Hon. G. W. Chalk, M. L. A.
" I HAVE YOUR MESSAGE ABOUT THE DISASTROUS
CYCLONE IN NORTH QUEENSLAND. ON BEHALF OF THE
COMMONWEALT1 GOVERNMENT I EXPRESS DEEP SYMPATHY TO
THE RELATIVES OF THOSE WV-O HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES
AND TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN INJURED AND OTHERWISE
AFFECTED BY THE CYCLONE.
WE ARE READY TO JOIN WITH YOUR
GOVERNMENT IN PROVIDING FINANCE FOR THE RELIEF
OF PERSONAL HARDSHIP AND DISTRESS IN THE
AFFECTED AREAS. THE CO-OPERATION OF COMMONWEALTH
FACILITIES IS BEING ADE AVAILABLE.
