Statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. William McMahon
I have recommended to His Excellency the Governor-General
that the Honourable Malcolm Fraser be sworn in as Minister for Education
and Science. Mr. Fraser will take over this portfolio from Mr. Fairbairn
who currently holds the two portfolios of Minister for Defence and
Minister for Education and Science.
Mr. Fraser will be in the Cabinet.
Earlier this year I announced my intention to appoint Assistant
Ministers to support certain senior Ministers in the discharge of their
responsibilities. I have recommended to His Excellency the Governor-
General that the following Senator and Members of the House of Representatives
be sworn as Executive Councillors
Mr. A. A. Street, M. P.
Mr. J. D. M. Dobie, M. P.,
Mr. 1. L. Robinson, M. P.,
Senator J. E. Marriott,
Mr. R. S. King, M. P.,
Mr. J. E. McLeay, M. P.
It is His Excellency's intention to hold the swearing-in in
Canberra on Friday 20 August.
