GOVERNOR-GENERAL TO VISIT NEW ZEtLAND
Statement bythe Prime Minister, Mr. John Gorton
With the approval of Her Majesty and concurrence of the
Commonwealth Government the Governor-General and Lady Hasluck will
pay an official visit to New Zealand next February at the invitation of the
Governor-General of New Zealand, His Excellency Sir Arthur Porritt.
The Governor-General and Lady Hasluck will fly to
Wellington in the Governor-General's R. A. A. F. aircraft o-n, Thurc-day,
11th February, and will return to Australia on Thursday, J8th February.
In addition to Wellington Sir Paul and Lady Hasluck iill visit
Auckland, Christchurch, Taupo and other centres.
The Government of the Commonwealth will be administered
by His Excellency Major-General Sir Rohan Delacombe, Governor of Victoria,
during the Governor-General's absence. Sir Rohan holds a Dormant
Commission from The Queen and is the senior State Governor in terms of
years of service in his office.
