ROYAL AUSTRALIAN AIR FORCE MEMORIAL
Statement b-the Prime Minister, Mr. John Gorton
On behalf of the Commonwealth Government, the National Capital
Development Commission is inviting entries from Australian sculptors who would
be interested in the design and execution of a Royal Australian Air Force Memorial
to stand in Anzac Parade, Canberra.
The nature of the Memorial and the sculptor to undertake it will be
announced in March next year to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the Royal
Australian Air Force. The Memorial is to be sited in Anzac Parade where along with
other memorials it will commemorate notable feats of arms of national significance.
All Australian sculptors interested will be welcome to submit
entries detailing examples of their completed works and locations.
From these, five sculptors will then be selected by a panel of
assessors and invited to submit entries for the actual Memorial.
The closing date for the first stage of this com petition will be
Friday 23 October 1970 at 12. L30 noon.
