PM No 93/1970 Message to new Malaysian Prime MInister

FOR PRESS: P. M. No 93/ 1970

The Prime Minister, Mr. John Gorton, has sent the following message to Tun Abdul Razak who today ( Tuesday) succeeded Tunku Abdul Rahman as Prime Minister of Malaysia

"On your assumption of the Prime Ministership of Malaysia, I offer my warmest congratulations and those of the Australian Government and people.

I am sure that you will fill your high office with distinction, and to the great benefit of the people of Malaysia. I am confident also that your Prime Ministership will see a continuation of the close relationship between our two countries.

I look forward to a long period of fruitful co-operation between us.
