AUSTRALIAN FILM DEVELO2MENT CORPORATION
6tatement by the Prime Minister, Mr. John Gorton
I am pleased to announce the appointment of the Australian Film Development
Corporation which has been established to encourage the production and distribution of
Australian films of high quality.
Five Australians have accepted the Government'o invitation to make up the
Corporation. They are:-
Mr. John Darling ( Chairman)
Mr. Ronald S. Elliott
Mr. Talbot S. Duckmarton
Mr. Denys E. Brown
Mr. Barry 0. Jones
I expect that each by virtue of his background and experience will make an
important contribution to the Corporation and the conduct o! its activities. None has
pecuniary interests in the business of making, distributing or exhibiting films.
I hope that the appointment of the staff o7 the Corporation will be proceeded
with as quickly as possible so that it will get underway with a minimum of delay.
The Corporation begins with an initial capital of one million dollars.
