VISIT BY CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER
The Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. Pierre Trudeau, wil
arrive in Brisbane on 15 May for a five-day visit to Australia.
After a rest period, which will be Spent privately, Mr. Trudeau
will perform official functions in Sydney on the morning of 18 May. Details
of these will be announced later. He will then fly to Canberra for a
formal welcome by the Commonwealth Government.
During the remainder of that day, Mr. Trudeau will be a
guest speaker at a National Press Club Luncheon, visit the Australian
National University and the Canadian High Commissioni, and call on
the Governor-General.
On 19 May, after laying a wreath at the Australian War
Memorial, Mr. Trudeau will go to Parliament House for private talks
with Mr. Gorton and the Cabinet. In the afternoon he will be guest of
honour at a Parliamentary Luncheon, and hear Question Time in the
House of Representatives and the Senate. Later, he will visit the
National Library and Regatta Point on Lake Burley Griffin, where a
flagpole presented by the Canadian Government stands close to the
Cook Memorial Fountain.
-In the evening, Mr. Trudeau will be guest of honour at a
Parliamentary Reception.
Mr. Trudeau will leave for Malaysia early on 20 May.
