APPOINTMENTS TO COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS
The Prime Minister, Mr. Gorton, today announced
appointments to fill two vacancies on the Australian Council
for the Arts. Mr. H. R. Bonython, of Adelaide, well known for
his interest in the visual arts and in music, will replace
Mr. G. Dutton, who has resigned from the Council for
personal reasons. Mr. T. C. Bray, of Brisbane, formerly Editor-in-
Chief of the Brisbane " Courier Mail", succeeds Dr. K. Langer,
who died last year.

Biographical Notes:-
Mr. Bonython:
Mr. Bray: He is a Foundation Member of the Society of
Collectors of Fine Arts, and Director of the
Bonython Art Galleries in Adelaide and Sydney.
He has been an outstanding sponsor: of many
Australian artists. His other interests include
modern music, particularly jazz.
He has had a long career in journalism, and has
just retired as joint Managing Director of
Queensland Newspapers Pty. Ltd. and Editorin-
Chief of the Brisbane " Courier Mail" and
" Sunday Mail". He is keenly interested in the
arts, especially the theatre.
