Statement by the Prime Minister, Mr. John Gorton
The Prime Minister today announced the programme for
the official visit to Canberra of the Vice-President of the United States
of America and Mrs. Spiro T. Agnew.
Mr. Agnew's visit to Australia will be at the concluding
stages of his Asian-Pacific tour.
CANBERRA 8 January 1970 PROGRAMME FOR CANBERRA
Tuesday 13 January
4.30 p. m. Ceremonial arrival at RAAF Fairbairn.
En route to his hotel, the Vice-President will lay
a wreath at the Australian War Memorial.
Evening Private Dinner with the Prime Minister and Mrs.
Gorton at the Lodge.
Wednesday 14 January
Morning The Vice-President visits Parliament House for
discussions with the Prime Minister and Cabinet
Ministers.
Presentation by Astronaut Thomas Stafford in King's
Hall of an Apollo 11 Flag and a Moon Rock.
Afternoon Cabinet Luncheon at Parliament House.
Evening The Vice-President and Mrs. Agnew will attend
dinner at Government House.
Thursday 15 January
Morning Discussions with the Leader of the Federal
Opposition, Mr. Gough Whitlam.
Ceremonial departure from RAAF Fairbairn
