NATIONAL LIBRARY COUNCIL APPOINTMENT
OF CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERSStatement
by the Prime M'nister, Mr. Harold Holt
The Prime Minister, Mr. Harold Holt, said today
that the Governor-General had re-appointed the Chairman of the National
Library Council and five other Council members, and had appointed a
new member to the Council for the term of three years from 23rd March,
1967. He explained that the Parliament, as provided by the
National Library Act of 196G, had already elected two Parliamentary
members to the Council Sir Alister McMullin, President of the Senate,
and Mr. G. M. Bryant from the House of Rperesentatives.
The re-appointments announced today are
Grenfell Price, C. M. G. ( Chairman)
Mr. Justice M. P. Crisp
Mrs. Kathleen Fitzpatrick
Sir Leonard Huxley, K. B. E.
Mr. Kenneth Myer, D. S. C.,
Mr. H. S. ' A'Wyndham, C. B. E.
The new member of the Council is Mr. WV. R. Cumming,
C. V. O Assistant Secretary, Prime Min'ster's Department. He replaces
Mr. A. L. Moore who is now Official Secretary at Australia House, London.
The Frime Minister said that these re-appointments
reflected the Government's appreciation of the tireless and devoted
energies of members of the Council. The magnificent building now being
erected in Canberra for the National Library was evidence of much
excellent work being done by the Council.
