Statement by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Sir Robert
Menzie s
Mr. Ray Maley was a fine servant of the
Crown, His Public Service career ex. ended over a
period of twelve years, which was made up chiefly of
six years as Press Officer at the Australian Embassy in
Washington where he served the Ambassador with high
capacity and distinction, followed by three and a half
years as Press Secretary to the Prime Minister,
I, as Prime Minister, and other members of
the Government, have been greatlvly assisted by his rich
' talents in journalism and its related fields.
He displayed a meritorious insight and
application in his work, linked with the attractive
personal qualities of great cheerfulness and dignity.
I extend to his wife and family my own and
the Government's deep sympathy,
