Menziesi
The Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies, has
sent the following telegram to the Premier of NewSouth
Wales " I HAVE LEARNT WITH CONCERN AND REGRET
OF THE DISASTROUS FLOODS OCCURRING IN NEW
SOUTH WALES. IF YOU FEEL THAT THE FACILITIES
OF ANY COMMONweALTH DEPARTMENT OR AUTHORITY
COULD AE OF PRACTICAL ASSISTANCE TO YOU IN THE
IMMEDIATE PERIOD WE STAND READY TO DO WHAT
WE CAN. I AM ASKING THE MINISTER FOR NATIONAL
DEVELOPMENT TO BE AVAILABLE FOR CONSULTATION
WITH YOU IN THIS REGARD."
CANBERRA 12th June, 1964.
The Premier of N. S. W. has asked for Commonwealth assistance
towards the relief of personal distress and the Commonwealth
will, of course, make this available in the usual way.
