CANCELLATION OF VISIT BY QUEEN MOTHER
Statement by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Sir Robert
Menzies
Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother,
is entering hospital for an appendix operation. Her
Majesty will be unable therefore to proceed with her visit
to Australia planned for this month and next for the
occasion of the Adelaide Festival of Arts.
We all greatly regret this news. It is our wish
and confident expectation that Her Majesty will have a
full and quick recovery.
Her Majesty has asked me to eXpress her own deep
regret at the cancellation of t'Uhe visit to which she had
been looking forward with such genuine pleasure.
