MESSAGE OF THANKS
Statement by the Prime Minister, the RtHn Sir Robert
Menzis
The Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies, has
sent the following message to the Prime Minister of
the United Kingdom " MAY I CONVEY TO YOU OUR DEEP THANKS
FOR YOUR MESSAGE OF 6TH MARCH CONCERNING THE
JUBILEE OF THE FOUNDING OF CANBERRA, AND OUR
DELIGHTED ACCEPTANCE OF YOUR OFFER OF A GIFT
FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF CANBERRA TO REFLECT OUR
COMMON PARLIAMENTARY HERITAGE. THE GIFT UILL
PLACE BEFORE THE EYES OF AUSTRALIANS A SYMBOL
OF THAT TRADITION W~~ HICH IS THE ESSENCE OF THE
DEMOCRATIC 14AY OF LIFE IN BOTH OUR COUNTRIES.
