MEETING WITH A. C. T. U. REPRESENTATIVES
Statement by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Menzies
The Prime Minister, Mr. Menzies, and senior
Commonwealth Ministers today met representatives of the
A. C. T. U. in order to obtain the point of view of the trades
unions on recent and prospective developments in the
Australian economy. The A. C. T. U. was represented by Mr. Albert
Monk,( President), Mr. J. D. Kenny ( Senior Vice-President) and
Mr. H. J. Souter, ( Secretary).
Mr. Menzies said that the representatives of
the A. C. T. U. had submitted various proposals and that he
welcomed hearing their views on specific aspects of the
economic situation with which they wore in close touch.
What the representatives had to say would be considered
carefully by the Government.
