ADVISORY COUNCIL
Statement by the Prime Minister, ( Rt. Hon. R. G. Menzies)
This afternoon the Prime Minister and several of
his Cabinet colleagues met representatives of the Manufacturing
Industries Advisory Council. The Council was represented by
Sir James Kirby, President; Mr. John Burnett, Mr. R. A. Irish
and Dr. J. Vernon,
Mr. Menzies said that he and his colleagues had had
a most interesting and valuable discussion about various
aspects of the Australian economy and, in particular, of
recent and prospective developments in the manufacturing
industry. He expressed thanks not only to those members of
the Council present, but also to all the other members who,
over the past few years, had tendered advice on matters
affecting the development of Australian manufacturing industry.
