FUNERAL OF VISCOUNT DUNROSSIL
The following arrangements for the State Funeral and
interment of the late Viscount Dunrossil were announced
officially today. The funeral will take place in Canberra in
the morning of Tuesday, 7th February.
It is the wish of Lady Dunrossil that the services be
conducted jointly by the Church of England and the Presbyterian
Church. His Grace the Most Reverend H. R. Gough, Primato of
Australia smdl Archbishop of Sydney, and the Right Reverend
Dr Alan C. Watson, Moderator-General of the Presbyterian Church
of Australia will conduct the services. They will be
assisted by Archdeacon Hill, Rector of St John the Baptist
Church, and the Reverend Edenborough of St Andrew's Church.
Following a service which will commence at 10.30 a. m. in
St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Forrest, the body of
Viscount Dunrossil will be borne by gun carriage with full
military honours from St Andrew's Church to the graveyard
of the Parish Church of St John the Baptist in Roid where
burial will take place. The cortege will pass Parliament
House. It is expected that many people will wish to pay
their last respects along the route.
Twenty-one guns will be fired at the time of interment,
Flags will be flown at half-mast on Commonwealth Buildings,
both in Australia and at overseas posts, until sunset on the
day of the funeral, except that on February 6, which is the
annivorsary of the accession of Hor Majesty The Queen, flags
will be flown at the masthead.
