VISIT TO INDONESIA AND MALAYA
STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER
The Prime Minister ( Mr. Menzies) today gave the
names of members of the party which will accompany him and
Dame Pattie Menzies to Indonesia and Malaya in December.
Mr. Menzies said that a Member of Parliament, Dr. A
J. Forbes, the Member for Barker, will travel with the party.
Officials included in the party will be Miss Hazel
Craig ( Private Secretary), Mr. M. C. Timbs and Mr. J. H. Scholtens
both of the Prime Minister's Department, and Mr. P. R. Heydon
of the Department of External Affairs.
Mr. Menzies said that Sir John Crawford will also be
a member of the party. However, he will not be travelling in
his capacity as Head of the Departrment of Trade, but will make
the trip in connection with his future appointment as Director
of the School of Pacific Studies at the Australian National
University. Mr. Menzies said that a party of press and television
representatives will also travel in the chartered Qantas
Super-Constellation, which will depart from Brisbane shortly
after midnight on the morning of December 1st for Djakarta.
The visit to Indonesia will be from 1st December to 7th December,
and the visit to Malaya from 7th to 12th December. On the
return journey from Malaya, the Prime Minister will pay a
visit to Cocos Island. Ho will return to Canborra on 141th
