VISIT TO ISRAEL
It is announced that the Prime Ministerts
departure for overseas, arranged for next Sunday, 1i+ th
June, is being postponed. Postponement is on medical advice.
As a result, the Prime Minister's proposed
official visit next week to Israel is cancelled.
The Govornrient of Israel has been informed and
the Prime Minister has conveyed personally to the Acting
Prime Minister of Israel ( Mr. Abba Eban), and through him
to the President his great disappointment at not being able
to visit Israel at this time.
The report of the Prime Minister's medical advisers
is as follows " Sir Robert Menzies is confined to
bed with a recurrence of an abdominal
disorder and is unfit at present to undertake
overseas travel. He will be required to
remain in bed for observation and treatment
for some days."
