MESSAGE TO THE OLYMPIC TEAM
The following message was read out by John Coates,
President of the Australian Olympic Committee, on behalf

Olympic Team in Barcelona on Wednesday evening ( Thursday

me take this opportunity to extend to you my
very best wishes for the great challenges which lie
ahead of you in Barcelona.
You can be sure that all your fellow Australians
are hoping that your talents, your hard word and
your dedication will be rewarded.
In representing Australia at the Olympic Games you
have already brought a great honour on yourselves.
We all now hope that your Olympic dreams will be
fulfilled. I know that you will live up to the great
traditions of Australian Olympians and represent
your country with dignity, spirit and we hope
success. I only ask that in Barcelona you pass on the word
that Sydney would be a great place to hold the
Olympics in 2000!
All Australia is behind you. All Australia is
wishing you the very best of luck.
