MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT KENNEDY
Statement by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Sir Robert
Menzies
The Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies, tonight
received the following message from the President of the
United States of America, Mr. Kennedy
" I am pleased and gratified by your
prompt and forthright statement of July 26
in which you called the nuclear test ban
agreement an important stop in tha right
direction. Obviously I share your view.
I also welcome warmly the announcement by
Sir Garfield Barwick thiat your Government
has decided that Australia should become a
party to the treaty. I think it important,
and I am glad that you and your countrym., en do
too, that as many nations as possible take
this ? important step in the right direction'
together and quickly."
