The Governo-'-General, His Excellency The Right Honourable
Sir Ninian GStphen, AK, GCMG, GCVO, KBE, will make State
Visits to Nalayoia and Singapore from 1-7 September. He
will be accupanied by Lady Stephen.
The Government attaches considerable importance to
Australia'o relations with countries in South East Asia and
looks forward to the continuation during my third Government
of the clona ties that exist with all the ASEAN countries.
The Governor-General's visit to Malaysia and Singapore
follows tho very successful visit to Thailand earlier this
year.
While in Malaysia ( 1-4 September), the Governor-General will
have discucsiono in Kuala Lumpur with his host, the King of
Malaysia, UAs Majesty Sultan Ickander, and Malaysian
Ministoro. 23 will also visit Molaka and Penang and mombors
of the Auctralian Defence Force stationed at Butterworth;
In Singaporo ! 4-7 September), Sir Ninian will have
discussions with the President of Singapore, His Excellency
Mr Wee Kim Woo, and his Minintcrc, lay a wreath at the
Kranji War Co:. etry and inaugurate the Australian Studies
program at toh National University of Singapore and tho
Nanyang Technological Institute.
Their Excellccics will return for the opening of Parlianent
on ' 14 August. They will then go overseas for a period of
