General Election
The Governor-General has today dissolved both Houses of the Parliament in preparation for the General Election to be held on 5 March 1983.
Writs for the House of Representatives elections and for the Senate elections in the Territories are being issued by the Governor-General today. The States have been asked to take complementary action for the election of the State Senators.
The closing date for nomination for both Houses will be 19 February 1983.
