WAGE DETERMINATION
The Prime Minister and the Premiers of Victoria, Queensland,
South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania in
discuss'; ons today noted the wage increases that had been
granted since the abandonment of wage indexation.
They agreed that Submissions to the forthcoming National
Wage case should emphasise the serious implications of a
further general increase in wages for the Australian
economy,, in terms of inflation, the competitive position
of Australian industry and generation of employment
opportunities. In part-'-cular they expressed concern that doubling up of
wage increases should not occur.
