R~ OYAL COMMISSION INTO THE ACTIVITIES
OF THE BUILDERS LABOURERS' FEDERATION
The Prime Minister and the Premier of Victoria
jointly announced today that the life of the BLF
Royal Commission had been extended to 30 April 1982.
As is -apparent from reports of its proceedings, the
Commission has been examining evidence of serious
malpractLice in relation to the BLF and certain of its
officers. The Commission had indicated that it would
need such an extension of time in order to investigate
additional material.
The Royal Commission, which is being conducted by
Mr J S Winneke, QC, was originally required to
finalise its inquiry and report by 28 February.,
No change has been made to the scope of the inquiry;
the terms of reference remain the same.
