MINISTERIAL CHANGES
The Governor-General in Council today approved the appointment
of the Honourable R. J. Ellicott, to the Federal Court
of Australia.
In consequence, Mr. Ellicott has resigned his appointment as
Minister for Home Affairs and Environment and his Excellency
. has sworn the Honourable M. J. R. MacKellar to that portfolio
in addition to his present portfolio as Minister for Health.
Mr. Ellicott has submitted his resignation as a member of
the House of Representatives.
I pay tribute to Mr. Ellicott for his Parliamentary and
Ministerial service. He has been a Member of the House
of Representatives since 1974. He has served as Commonwealth
Attorney-General, Minister for the Capital Territory, and,
until now, as Minister for Home Affairs and Environment.
Mr. Elli~ ott brought to the service of the Government and
the country great knowledge, understanding and drive. He
has been a miost valued colleague. 000---
