PRIME MINISTER'S ATTENDANCE AT UNCTAD
The Prime Minister will visit the Phillipines from 8 11 May
at the invitation of President Marcos.
While in Manila he will address the Fifth Session of the
United Nations Conference on Trade and Development which is
meeting from 7 May 01 June.
He will have talks with President Narcos and with Prime Minister
Ohira of Japan who is also addressing the Fifth UNCTAD Session.
The Prime Minister said the issues of international trade and
development on which the Conference will focus are of
fundamental importance not only to developing countries, but
to the international community at large.
He said Australia had been actively seeking to achieve progress
in the dialogue between the developed and developing countries.
The Prime Minister's discussions with Prime Minister Ohira
will cover the forthcoming Economic Summit in Tokyo at which
Mr Ohira will be host. o0o--
