The Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Peacock, has made a major
foreign policy statement to the Parliament in which he re-affirmed
the Government's view that the present crisis in Southeast Asia
was the result of Vietnam' s invasion of Kampuchea and its alliance
with the Soviet Union. Mr. Peacock interviewed.
Senator Ken Wriedt interviewed.
The Government survived a censure motion today against the
Prime Minister over the Robinson affair. Mr. Fraser did not
take part in the debate. Mr. Robinson told the Parliament
the reasons for his resignation. These included administrative
and organisational matters no Government policy was involved.
Vietnamese are now claiming China has committed 500,000 troops
to the battle in Vietnam. Heavy fighting is continuing on
most fronts.
Man in Rose Bay, Sydney, stole the school cane from Headmaster
at Woollahra public school. He was annoyed because his 8-year old
son was to be caned. Department of Education will not press charges.
Melbourne ' s Moomba Festival will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary
this week. Graham Kennedy was crowned King of Moomba.
