VISIT BY THE PRINCE OF WALES
The Prince of Wales has accepted an invitation from the
Australian Academy of Science to attend its Silver Jubilee
anniversary celebrations in Canberra on Monday, 26 March 1979.
On 2 June 1978 Mr Anthony, when Acting Prime Minister,
announced that His Royal Highness had accepted an invitation
from the Commonwealth Government to visit Australia next March in
connection with the sesquicentenary celebrations of Western Australia.
The visit is expected to begin in Perth on or about
Thursday, 8 March 1979.
After spending about two weeks in Western Australia, His Royal
Highness proposes to travel from Perth to Canberra on
Saturday, 24 March and then to leave Australia during the
following week.
It will be recalled that when His Royal Highness was here in
November 1977 as Patron of The Queen's Silver Jubilee Appeal for
Young Australians, his programme included engagements in each of
the States and in the mainland Territories.
He has in mind that in March next year his engagements will be
limited to Western Australia and the National Capital.
