VISIT BY TRH PRINCESS BEATRIX AND PRINCE CLAUS
OF THE NETHERLANDS
Their Royal Highnesses Princess Beatrix and Prince Claus
of the Netherlands are to make an official visit to
Australia from 26 May to 6 June, 1978.
While in Australia they will visit Western Australia, Canberra,
New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland in -that order
before leaving for overseas.
Detailed arrangements for the visit are being planned in
consultation with the State authorities and the program of
engagements in the States will be announced by the State
authorities concerned in due course.
The Acting Prime Minister said that the visit was a further
indication of the warm relationship existing between
Australia and the Netherlands and would continue the series of
high level visits which had taken place in recent years.
At a time of difficulties in international economic relations
it was important to recall the close bonds that existed between
the people of AusCralia and Western Europe. The visit by
Princess Beatrix and Prince Claus would serve to strengthen
those bonds.
