TRUST FUND FOR CHILDREN OF SYDNEY CITY COUNCIL EMPLOYEES
KILLED IN BOMB EXPLOSION
The Prime Minister said today that the Commonwealth Government
will establish a-trust fund for the education and general benefit
of the children of the two Sydney City Council employees who
were tragically killed in the bomb blast which occurred
outside the Hilton Hotel in Sydney in the early hours of
Monday, 13 February 1978.
Three children are involved. Alec Raymond Carter was the
father of two girls, Christine, seven, and Susan, nine years of
age. Arthur William Favell left a daughter, Casandra,-age seven.
The Commonwealth will contribute $ 15,000 per child to be held
in trust and administered for the benefit of the children
until each has completed her full-time education or until
she has reached the age of 25 years. The terms of the trust
will require the trustee to make fortnightly payments to the
mothers for the children's benefit.
Provision will be made for public donations. to be accepted by
the Trust and administered in the same way as the Commonwealth's
contribution.
