AUSTRALIAN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY COUNCIL
Dr J. A. L. Matheson, Chairman of the Interim Council has been asked to form
a small group to advise me on the role of a continuing Science and Technology
Council, its terms of reference, and all other matters concerning its
operation. The other members of the Advisory Group will be
Professor G. M. Badger, Vice-Chancellor, The University of Adelaide.
Professor Sir Rutherford Robertson, Director, The Research School
of Biological Sciences, Austral an National University.
Professor R. Street, Director, Research School of Physical Sciences,
Institute of Advanced Studies, Australian National University.
Sir Colin Syme, President of Walter and Eliza Hall, Institute of Medical
Research.
It is of high importance that the Government has available to it independent
advice on matters of broad policy in the fields of science and technology
drawing on person3 of eminence and experieie in the scientific community,
industry and commerce.
