The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam, today released the
Report on Radio by the Priorities Review Staff. w
Mr Whitlam said that although the Government did not
agree with all its recommendations, the report should be a
valuable contribution to public debate on radio in Australia.
" He said that since requesting the PRS to make the
review last year, the Government has pursued its commitment
to promote and support public radio with the establishment
of experimental stations in Sydney and Melbourne.
Encouarged by the response to these initiatives,
the Government wanted the broadest possible community involvement
in the further development of public radio.
