VISIT OF PRESIDENT SUHARTO
The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam, today announced
that President Suharto of Indonesia would pay an informal
visit to Australia from 3 to 5 April. The visit will take
place in North Queensland. The Prime Minister and
President Suharto will have informal discussions. The
program will include a visit by the President to a
cattle station. President Suharto will be accompanied by two
ministers, the Minister for Agriculture, Mr Thojib Hadiwidjaja,
the State Secretary and Minister of State Lieutenant General
Sudharmono and several senior officials.
The visit is a continuation of the informal round
of discussions initiated in Yogyakarta and Wonosobo in
September last year. It was decided then that President
Suharto would try to pay a return visit to Australia at
a mutually convenient time in the first six months of
1975.
