MOROSI REPORT
The Prime Minister, Mr. Whitlam, today released
the text of a telegram he received this morning from the
Premier of New South Wales, Sir Robert Askin.
" With further reference to your telegram
December concerning an appointment to the staff of
the Deputy Prime Minister my colleague, the Attorney-General,
has advised me that the Commissioner for Corporate Affairs
has informed him as follows:
Tacticair Pty. Limited a company inr-rDorated in
New South Wales was wound up by order of the
Supreme Court on 28 February 1972 Atc the date of
winding up the officers of the company were:
Directors: David Mervyn Lindsay Ditchburn,
Juni Morosi,
Cecilio Hechanova
Secretaries: David Mervyn Lindsay Ditchburn,
Lionel Hart
all appointed 8 December 1969.
The statement of affairs for the company signed by Miss Juni Morosi
showed estimated realisable assets as nil and liabilities of $ 39,992.
On 29 March 1972 Mr. Roy Leslie Pegler the Liquidator of the
company reported to the Commission pursuant to Section 306( 3)
of the Companies Act that the company would be unable to pay its
unsecured creditors 50 cents in the dollar. * That section gives
the Commission certain powers of investigation when it receives
such a report. The investigatibn conducted by the Commission
following the receipt of this report has led the Commission to
seek advice from the New South Wales Crown Solicitor as to whether
any offence has been committed by any person in relation to the
affairs of the company. The matter is presently under consideration
by a Deputy Senior Crown Prosecutor whose advice is expected to be
received within the next few days.
