APPOINTMENTS TO THE GRANTS COMMISSION, THE AUSTRALIAN
ATOMIC COMMISSION AND THE CHIEF OF THE AIR STAFF
The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam announced today
that the Executive Council had agreed to the following
appointments. Mr D. V. Moye, who is Secretary of the Grants
Commission, has been appointed a full-time member of the
Grants Commission from 1 January 1975. His appointment is
for a five year term. He will take the place of
Mr J. F. Nimmo who since 1 March 1974 has been Commissioner
of an Inquiry into Transport Charges to and from Tasmaniii.
Mr Moye has been acting in Mr Nimmo's place on the Grant--
Commission since that time.
Professor Harry Messel has been appointed
to a vacant position on the Australian Atomic Commission
and will take up the position immediately.
Air Vic Marshal J. A. Rowland, A. F. C.,
will become Chief of the Air Staff from 21 March 1975
for a period of three years. He succeeds Air Marshal
C. F. Read, whose appointment
expires on 20 March 1975. Air Vice Marshal Rowland will
be promoted to the rank of Air Marshal from 21 March 1975.
