PRESS STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER, THE HON. E. G. WHITLAM, M. P.
Australia has made a further contribution'of $ 50,000 to the
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for relief'of
distress in Cyprus.
This brings its total contribution to $ 100,000.
In addition Qantas is flying free of charge to Cyprus
of emergency relief supplies each week.
The extra $ 50,000 will be spent on canned meat.
More than. two thousand enquiries from the Cypriot community
in Australia have been passed on to the International Committee
of the Red Cross.
An Australian team from the Embassy in Athens has gone to
Cyprus to process applications for migration from those who
