Government in the normal manner in assistance for the relief
of personal hardship and distress arising from the widespread
flooding now affecting a number of areas in New South Wales.
Mr. Whitlam said that the Australian Government
was deeply concerned about the distress and damage being
suffered by people affected by the flooding.
Mr. Whitlam indicated that the expenditure covered
by his Government's offer included the provision of food,
clothing, shelter and repairs to homes to make them habitable
and secure. The Prime Minister went on to say that he had
assured the Premier that the Australian Government would
look quickly and sympathetically at proposals for assistance
