PRICES JUSTIFICATION TRIBUNAL
The Prime Minister, Mr Whitlam, announced today
the further action which has been taken to bring the
Prices Justification Act into operation on 1 August 1973.
The following further appointments have been
made to the Tribunal: Mr J. K. Lawrence
Dr A. Fels
Mr R. N. R. Johnston
Mr Lawrence is at present First Assistant
Auditor-General and he will be a full-time member of the
Tribunal. Dr Fels is the Senior Lecturer in Economics at
Monash University with special qualifications in the
required field and Dir Johns-ton is a Melbourne chartered
accountant with wide experience. Dr Fels and Mr Johnston
wil~ l be part-time members of the Tribunal.
Mr Justice Williams of the Conciliation and
Arbitration Commission had been appointed Chairman of the
Tribunal on 1 Juner the day the act received the
Governor-General's assent.
For tile time being the head office of the
Tribunal will be located at 4 Treasury Place, East Melbourne.
The Chairman of the Tribunal proposes to issue
an announcement shortly regarding the functioning of the
Tribunal. Staff positions were advertised in the Gazette
and t'ae press on 21 June.
